Default Wipers won't stop

After work the wipers would not turn off. They will shift to high in the high position but in everyother position they are on low. A few times on the 20 minute drive home they parked for about 5 seconds then came on again a couple of times they acted like they were on the shortest delay cycle.

I am leaving to drive somewhere first thing in the morning and it is suppose to rain so I can't just pull the fuse. Any ideas?

Thanks.

YES! The drains in the cowl are clogged! I just posted on another post about the same thing except he had a smell issue. The controller board on the bottom of the wiper motor is in the water/gook.
Clean out the drains and once the motor controller dries out the problem should go away. Its a very common problem.

Check out the post below:

Yes it's the wiper motor that has been sitting in water due to the clogged udders. Your motor may dry out, but mine didn't. Here's what I had to do, (it wasn't very hard)

Thanks for the info. It rained very hard here today. When I checked the drains they were not clogged but that doesn't mean they didn't fill up in the massive drenching we got today and fry the wiper controller. Guess I will have to drive my wifes tahoe on my trip since it is suppose to rain tomorrow and the next day.

You might want to open up the bottom of those udders a little.

Or you can take it to the stealership and they will fix it for $535 because they will tell you the motor is bad... ask me how I know.. Next time, I'm checking with the CF guys. I hadn't signed up yet.

just get the $39 autozone part. They seem to work ok after you go thru the obligatory bad first autozone motor

Actually, I'm kinda serious

Mine worked fine, and with a lifetime guarantee and the ability to change it out in about an hour (after the first time), it sure beats a $500 trip to the dealer!

Yeah, same here, except it took me two motors

I like the lifetime warranty for $39, but the hassle of the second motor was a pita for me. I think another poster had a similar experience so I wanted to drop the caveat.

If your motor is running and won't shut off it's not the motor,it's the wiper motor control module located under the motor. About 100.00 dollars from Chevrolet.-Very easy to fix

Default Question

Rgregory

Did you fix the problem? I am having the same problem with IDENTICAL symptoms as you and was wondering if it was the motor or the wiper motor control. Thanks

FWIW, the $39 autozone part includes both the motor and the servo (black plastic) under it.

My car did the same thing. I fixed this a few days ago. I got a motor from autozone for about 43.00 with tax including the core exchange. Their is a install guide on the forum that makes it really easy. I used some liquid wrench on the wiper arms cuz they were a bitch to get off. Also the fuse on mine had blown too. I put a new one in and had to wait about a min or two after I put the new motor in for it to work. You will save ALOT of money compared to taking it to the dealership.
