Thanks for the info!

I needed to do this job on our "new" C5 tonight, and haven't purchased the FSM yet.

I've got one of these on the way. Click the vid, it takes about 30 seconds to load.

Will removing the license plate cover and replacing it with some kind of grill help the car run cooler?

I removed my plate filler but there were no holes under the filler to attach the plate to. Is there a write up or something on the best way of doing this without holes already drilled? I didnt wanna have to start drilling holes

It doesn't make your car run cooler. It just makes your car LOOK cooler!

I took the cover off and put the screws back in, leaving them sticking out about 1/8". Then I cut the holes in the bottom of the cover to make them into slots. Now the cover snaps into place at the top and the bottom is flexible enough to lift it up and get the notches under the heads of the screws. Very solid and easy to remove.

I'm having this same problem, But I'm changing the plate to the cover. My state doesn't require a front plate. I took the plate off but the cover screw holes doesn't seem like it's gonna line up. The screws all like a 1/2" below the screw holes..

Default Paint on inside

I too have a clear plastic cover taped off to view only the plate numbers. I suggest taping off on the inside surface and paint the inside. This way the front outside surface of the cover stays clear, shiney and the paint won't chip off.
