If the PCM is labeled with red/blue on the connectors it will work regardless of part number

Easy one is no, you do not lose your fuel guage.
You will have to use EFI Live for this. Depending on yoru mods and such, if yoru stock you can load up a 1999-02 Corvette Operating system with your Vin and your fuel guage will work, it will need to be re-called but a tuner can do this for you.
For me, i used EFI Lives custom operating system #5 and segment swapped the 99 vette fuel segment into the tune, so my fuel guage works just fine. PM me if you need more info id be glad to help you out in any way i can.

WOW! Very cool!
Why was it you wanted and or needed the newer PCM? Just curious - I have a '98 and wonder if it would be a bebefit to myself!
Thanks,Matt

And Rick will talk it over with you. I know from 1st hand experience him and his friend Harrison are walking me through mine right now. When he 1st replied to a post I made a while back about this subject he posted pictures and I went holy crap Bat Man. But now that I have 3/4 of my wiring out and marked it really is not that bad. Now when I get it together and it won't run, or goes up in smoke, or lights, bells and sirens go off, this might be another story. But after talking with Rick and Harrison I feel very good about the whole thing. My hat is off to both of them for the help they have given me to date.

This is still one of my favorite threads. You should consider making a conversion harness, eurospec1. I bet there are a few people that would pay for a plug and play way of making this happen.
(ps, of course if you make one, we'd be delighted to stock and sell it)

I bought a label maker after seeing that thread and used some of his ideas when I re-did all of my wiring when I converted from an auto to a six-speed.
You would basically need to know what each wire does on the older PCM and What they do on the new one to figure out the pin assignments. Also need to know whether it came off of the blue or red terminal of the PCM.
No real short cuts when doing a job like that.
