Default Horn will not blow

I have an '01 Z06 and my horn will not blow. However, if the alarm is triggered, the horn sounds. This leads me to believe that the malfunction is somewhere between the column and the horn. I have checked the fuse and it is still intact. Anyone have an idea as to where I should look first? Thanks for your input. On a side note, when I lock my doors, sometimes the driver door locks and sometimes it doesn't. I imagine that this is due to a failing door lock motor, assuming there is such a thing. Any ideas?

I have the same problem. The alarm will trigger the horn, however pressing on it will not. What DIC Codes are coming up? Mine is throwing a DTC B0026 LF/Driver Frontal Deployment Loop (Single Stage or Stage 1) Open which I suspect to be the problem. (No SIR light is showing either)

It is the membrane between the airbag and horn contact causing the problem - you may want to search the forum for a fix -

Whoa... found the membrane fix. I don't trust myself enough to do that. Looks like she is going to the shop. Still have a warranty, so its worth my $75 deductible not to be slapped in the face by a deploying airbag. I am sure they can fix my lock motor while they are in there as well. Thanks for the info.

Hey, check your horn fuse before doing anything. Its in the engine compartment fuse block, its listed in the owners manual.

You may have to start using your middle finger then? Sorry , I know that doesn't help but at least I didnt ask if the driver does.......

I had the same horn problem - working when setting alarm but not otherwise.

Ended up being a defective turn signal cancel cam fixed under warranty at dealer ......... something like a $7.00 part but no way I was doing myself.

Had the horn problem but it seems to have fixed itself; also the door lock problem (mine would not always unlock)... fixed it this weekend by replacing both the lock and unlock relays in the driver door module; took all of an hour. If your warranty will cover it; go that way; there is a thread that describes the fix- search for 'door lock'. I would be curious to know what the horn problem ends up being... Thanks; RK.
