I'm new to the Vette scene. Have worked on Fbodies and various other vehicles.
The C5 corvette seems to have a somewhat different layout though. How does the drivetrain disassemble? Are there any good books on C5 corvette mechanic work?
I have been searching the web and noticed they seem to lift the body off the drivetrain. Is it necessary to go to this extent or can the engine and tranny be removed in peices like on an fbody?
The C5 is a completely different layout that F-bodies or C4s. Take a look under your car; you'll see the tranny at the rear, directly mounted to the diff.
The best book for working on a C5? By far the best is either here at CF or the shop manuals.

search for how to's on clutch installations. The drive train has to come out for a clutch. Its not all that bad to do on a garage floor, just time consuming.
