Default LS6 cam on LS1

What can you expect if you put an LS6 cam in an LS1? Is it a worthwhile change?

Correct me if im wrong but an LS6 is just an Ls1 with a different top end, so maybe you can get a used ls6 top and and bolt it on your ls1 block I will be looking into this myself.

For all the trouble of getting to your cam, you'll regret it if you don't go with a bigger cam. Get the biggest cam your states smog laws will allow and that you'll be able to tolerate.

Been there, done that...went from a 2002 ZO6 cam to a 224/224 cam and much happier..

my wife has an ls1 and i have a 2002 z06, both the same until you hit 4000 rpm, mine grabs and pulls like hell! it wants to go go go past the redline!

and hers accelerates nice and smooth all they way up to redline.

the 2002-04 z06 cam is very nice!

but yeah unless its awful cheap get a 224/224 cam with about 580 to 590 lift, 114 lsa and you will be amazed!

but for a smog legal cam you cant beat the z06 cam!

So many better choices. Even if you do it yourself its way more trouble than its worth to just goto a Z06 cam. Maybe look into the GM HOT CAM or the thunder racing "Old Man Cam" if you really want to stay small and stockish. What everyone says is true though, pick the biggest cam you'll ever think you need or want and then go one step BIGGER.

I agree here. If your changing cams put in a 224/224 right away.

LS6's have different cams than LS1's. The Z06's extra 60 crank hp comes primarily from the cam and heads...
