Headlights go up but not down
On my 2000 coupe the headlights go up when turned on but not down. I just replaced the headlight control module behind the passenger headlight but it didn't change the problem. They seem to start down a little but stop and don't go far. Twilight works to open but they don't close. Any ideas on what else it might be?

i ran into the exact same problem last night when i had changed my headlights to zenon. the way my go down is if i flick the high beam switch to pull them down. i think my problem might be that the bcm doesn't see the necc. resistance to close the headlights. not really sure. or there might be some timing procedure for the motor to have them close. see if they go down with the high beam switch.

Have you replaced your headlight gears with brass ones? If not, that may be the problem. Usually they strip in the up mode and won't go up. Although it is unusual for two to fail at the same time.
Have you heard any "machine gun noises" when they try to close? If so, this is stripped gears. Mine did not make the machine gun noise until quite a while after it stopped opening every time.

also make sure you mount the resistor to the frame or something metal. as it gets very hot just like a 55watt bulb and will melt plastic or wires if it lays on them

Well, turns out I did just put HID's in. With high beams the doors do close now. So that was the issue.
Anyone need a headlight control module? I just replaced mine and the old one was good!
Saved me the dealer money as I was about to bring it in.
Mouser has the 55watt 5 ohm resistors for 15.00 each.
Could someone put this little piece of info in the c-5 secrets area? It probably will come up with more people going to HID's

This seems to be the most logic solution to the dreaded headlight problem encountered with trying to upgrade to HID....
I came close to buying the module today but i guess the problem seems to be the resistance....
Please post some install pics if possible and thanks a ton!

This site is just amazing.. Every time I start to research (or have a issues with) doing something to my car.. someone is currently doing or has done it and not only is there an answer, but a tutorial on how to get it done!
Sometimes I think the best value I got when I bought my C5 was being on this forum before and after purchase!
As I plan on doing the HID upgrade to my 2000 coupe, I am pretty sure I will need the resistor setup on mine car as well!

Hid
you dont need the resistor for your upgrade, the resistors run really hot, follow this post and it will solve your problem if you have one.
