How many miles on F1 Supercar tires?
Just curious, I have a set of these and was wondering how long they lasted, how many miles before my next $1200 hit. Thanks

Re: How many miles on F1 Supercar tires? (Vinzvette)
Hi,
I installed mine in February and since then have put about 10k hard miles on the rears. They are balding nicely and I expect in the end I'll get about 12-13k miles out of them, much the same as I was getting with the runcraps. Next time around I'm going for Michelin pilots on the rear.
Front tires of course have much more life in them and will probably last closer to another 15k miles...
Good luck!
Justin

Two sets in 16,ooo miles with lots of auto-x and many track miles. Should get over 15,000 on the street i would think.

Re: How many miles on F1 Supercar tires?
Rears should go twice as fast as the fronts.
FWIW, the F1's have the LEAST AMOUNT OF TREAD of almost any performance tire made. They come with 8/32 of tread compared to a PZero with 11/32 of tread. That really trips me out.
You've lost 1/3 of your tread right out of the box! I'd guess 10k on the F1's with spirited driving. Most people I know burn thru them fast.

Historically with me, you're correct- on a vette (where you can't rotate tires), the fronts last 2x as long as the rears.

At least once you put the Supercar tires on, you can get by with just replacing the rear more often. I'm about to get rid of my GY run flats and am going to yank the fronts off even though they have alot of tread left.

I got about 23,000 miles out of mine. They started scaring the hell out of me when I drove in the rain :cuss I think I got more than the expected life out of them. I just paid 946 bucks for four of the Firehawk Firestone SZ50's (their runflat) and they -- BY FAR are 10 times better than the crappy goodyear tires. The car rides SO much better and they're not half as loud inside -- though they have great traction around corners. If your looking for runcraps i'd suggest the Firestones :p:

I managed to get 31k on my run craps on my 97, but think I'll be lucky to get 20 or 25 out of the SCs. They seem softer unless it's just the lack of the kevlar inserts that makes them feel grippier. We'll see, but I don't usually light up the rears all that much. I'm also religious with air pressure adjustments and that makes a big difference in wear. This time of year in the northeast I adjust presssures once a week.

If they last more than 8000 miles, you are not having enough fun. :yesnod: If you drive this car as it was designed (high speed tracks) the fronts will wear out twice as fast as the rears. If you only highway drive the car, the rears will probably wear out first. I take about 1/3 of the life off the fronts each high speed track day at BIR and if I didn't have 1.5 degrees of neg. camber, I would take over half of the tread in one track day.

Almost has two wrecks from dodging other cars & trying to correct severe oversteer.

Re: How many miles on F1 Supercar tires? (Futch)
Guys,
I got rid of the run flats when I had about 3,000 miles on them. The ride was harsh and too uncomfortable. I mean terrible. I went to Mallett wheels and Michelin Pilot Sports and the car now rides like a Cadillac. The ride is soft, but very responsive in hard turns and grips great when accelerating through turns as well.
Look at your alternatives as I got my Michelin Pilot Sports for around $1100.00 which is cheaper over the run-flats also. Can't beat the ride quality for that price.

coolC5,
Trust me, go with nothing but Michelin Pilot Sports. They are the best for the C5 and the Z06.

I'd suggest the Firestone Firehawk SZ50's. They are the best runcrap made (in my opinion). After I put them on my car rode so much smoother and the tires aren't half as loud as the goodyear's that come with the car.

I'm selling a used set... anyone interested ? 295/35x18 - 16k miles and 50 passes at the track - perfect for slicks.

Re: How many miles on F1 Supercar tires? (Vinzvette)
8500 miles on the rears with 9 track days. The outside shoulders were bald, the rest of the tire probably would have gone another 4000 miles, but unsafe on the track. i considered swaping the rights with the lefts to use up the inside shoulders, but opted for new tires instead.
