Default Anyone else have this problem?

I have a 2000 Coupe and ever since I bought it I've had a rattle in the rear. Sounds like one of the heat shields is loose but I can't figure out which one. Seems to do it the hotter it gets. I thought maybe it was a loose resinator in the muffler so I replaced them with ZO6 titanium and its still there. This is very frustrating and sounds really bad when I am sitting at a stop light. I have put it up on ramps and crawled all under it while running looking for it but it has yet to be discovered.

Help please.

Mike

I had the same thing when I bought mine, turned out to be the exhaust tips.

had a similar problem on a 2005 SRX... it would also drome at higway speeds... It turned out to be a missing/broken weld on a baffle in the muffler.

Take a rubber mallet and tap on and around the underside components with engine not running and/or running if needed.

There are a lot of possibilities.

Including a loose piece of metal in the factory H-pipe crossover. There have been a few folks that have experienced this in the past.

The tips are so close they would "jingle" when at a certain idle speed.

Yes, and I would notice it the most when city driving or at stop signs. The sound seemed to bounce off of other cars, it was very annoying.
