Fuel Gauge Level Problems
Does anyone know of a fix for the fuel level problem. I have taken it to GM already and they have replaced the sensor. That was a few years ago, but I am having the same problem again. I have tried running Tetron through the system, but not sure if there is anything out their stronger that would get the job done.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is the sulphur in the gas "gumming" up your sensor.

Solution. Reset trip computer each fill up, at 275 miles in town driving fill up.
Danged if I know,, but on the highway traveling the danged thing works normal but park it and try again
. NUTS to the fuel gauge. Might as well have a stick/cork float in front of the windshield
.
What type of gas do you use?

This is why the fuel guage craps out at about 1/2 a tank. The right hand tank is empty, exposing the sender/sensor. If the silver plated sensor is contaminated, and can't tell the computer it's empty, the computer assumes there is a fuel flow problem and sets the guage to empty.
You might also have noticed that your fuel gauge reading is different when you first start driving, compared to a couple of miles down the road. This is because, with less than a full tank, the computer is estimating the amount of fuel until pumping fills the left hand tank. At that point it's reading actual fuel.
Techron is a great product when used as a preventative. Usually it will not "fix" a badly contaminated sensor, but well worth giving it some time to do so compared to the cost of replacing the sensor!
