The best X-pipes are ones with the merge style collectors (also known as 2x2) Bassini and WCC make these. They actually merge both pipes into a single large pipe for about 10 inches, then back into 2 pipes. Aside from balancing out pulses, it provides the same (though greatly diminshed) effect of headers using opposing negative pressure waves to pull the next pulse along.

The others that look like two bent pipes welded in the middle provide minimal exchange and the effect is about the same as the stock H-pipe (which is pretty much pointless)

I have never seen one as you describe radio flyer. Not even on basanni website. DO you have an example of this 10 inch single pipe x pipe you described?

Just to note changing from the stock H pipe to the corsa x-pipe i ran 2 tenths consistently faster

The X-Pipe™ Brand Crossover pipes are used to connect OEM style headers (including Bassani's) to the OEM type or Bassani cat-back muffler section on vehicles with true dual exhaust systems. The Bassani X-Pipe™ features mandrel bent stainless steel tubes welded into a unique x-shaped stainless steel chamber that utilizes technology similar to what is used in NASCAR. The X-Pipe™ comes in two versions, Off-Road (without catalytic converters) for those that don’t have to worry about smog restrictions or for race-only applications, or a w/Cats version with 50 state approved catalytic converters for applications that are street driven and need to be concerned about the smog restrictions within their state. By installing Bassani's X-Pipes™ you will notice increased power and better fuel economy without sacrificing reliability.

I am not sure you know what your talking about to be honest. This style of x-pipe is usually put way down the exhaust right before the mufflers. Your comments about scavenging on the header issue baffles me as well. It was my understanding that a short x-pipe used after headers actually helped scavenging.

My recollection of the size may be a bit off

that's the style I'm talking about through. The crosover section is about 10" long if I remember (not wide...that would be wierd )

IMO it doesn't make it any quieter, just evens out the exhaust tone ..(I have the Bassani X-pipe with GHL's)..

The stock H pipe with my Corsa's were louder than the Corsa's with the Bassani X pipe. The exhaust seemed a little smoother with the Bassani X pipe.

I just added the Bassani pipe...the sound ist really quieter but more refined...you do loose the stock Ti drone..it becomes a bit more high pitched kinda "exotic" less throaty..

But when you get on it...that Corvette sound comes back

Well i can guarantee you that it made my corsa pace car exhaust MUCH MUCH quieter.

Did you have a before and after? I did

Do you hear the video of the pace exhaust with the x pipe. THAT is very quiet compared to a corsa exhaust with no x

The Corsa pace car exhaust with no x pipe scares people.

I remember a post on LS1tech by Patrick G awhile back on y-pipe and x-pipes. They mentioned that the LG style X-pipe was one of the better designs. They were more concerned with the angle that the two pipes intersected.
