Default oxygen sensore question with headers?

My check engine light came on for the oxygen sensor, I have LG pro long tube headers and I thought they put dummy sensors in just to close the holes. So I guess I can ignore the check engine light?

Default sounds alot like your're modding...

I bought a handheld tuner to turn off the o2 sensors, or you can take it to a tuner to turn them off. I don't like the engine light on, there might be other issues come up and I might miss them.

I guess you could as long as its the rear sensors throwing codes. I hated seeing the CEL and got tired of resetting the codes. Thanks to a member here I have no 02 sensor codes anymore. Well not for my rear ones, Time to replace my front ones though.

You will need to turn off the rear sensors. I assume the headers you put on have smaller CATS. They don't quite get the rear O2 sensors hot enough and they will throw a code once in a while.

Make sure your Rear O2 sensors are crossed (if they're present at all) and your fronts are Uncrossed. Some headers have O2 bungs that point to the opposiate side so you may need wire extensions.

If youre front O2's are crossed you'll get a code and a nasty "tractoring" feeling

Some of those codes are not O2 codes like P1516, a code will have a H or a C or both associated with it, the C indicates that the problem is happening right now.

Some are for the front O2's which you WILL most likely need to fix or you Vette will not run very well.

Did you install or did a shop? An O2 sensor may have a melted wire, a comon occurance. If a shop did it I'd take it back to them and have them check it out.

There are a lot of codes your Vette can have, I'm no expert, the numbers and codes are ODB II base so they are universal. You can google them to get an idea of what part is the issue even though the explanation of the code may not make much sense...

If you want help post the current codes, not any that are strictly historical. You can clear all the codes and see which ones come back and then post those.

I just had the LG's installed about a month ago. Left the shop and everything was fine. After about 50 miles the check engine light came on. Called up the folks that did the install (Next Level Performance) brought the car back down to them and they reprogrammed it. It was the 02 sensor. No problems since.

I have the P1153 code from time to time after installing headers. This is for insufficient switching(lazy) front O2 sensor. I don't believe it affects performance but is annying when it causes Check Engine Light CEL to come on. I believe I'm going to have the tuner remove the command to turn on the check engine light when the code is thrown. I'll still get the code, just won't turn on the CEL. I believe P codes relate to the PCM (powertrain control module). You can check what your other codes mean by going to the Vette Drs website.

Your PCM can go into default mode if it senses certain problems. You don't want this to happen. Get the sensors tuned out or install proper sims.
