Default Magnetic Drain Plug

I'm looking for a Magnetic Oil Pan Drain plug for a C5. Dealer has one but its not magnetic.

I bought an aftermarket one, but since there was no "oring" made into it, it did not seal completely and seeped oil. Enough to see, not enough to drip.

Anyone have a source for one?

I bought mine from Ecklers. I do not remember if it came with a washer but you could use the washer that is on the original plug. Just swap it out.

The rubber ring is made into the OEM drain plug.

Got mine at dealer for $2.75 if your dealer doesn't have one try another dealer.

A nylon or copper washer will do the job with out leaking.

Is that for the drain plug or washer/gasket?

I also got a magnetic drain plug from the dealer. Had the rubber seal built-in like the stock Vette plug. It's not a Vette p/n ... it's off some other GM model (truck?). Don't have the p/n handy, so maybe someone else can find it.

The magnetic drain plugs (original on LS truck engines)are no longer available from GM according to my friendly neighborhood Chevy dealer. They are however available through NAPA or most of the other parts places. Hope it helped.

I hope that's not true because I just paid $3.55 + $8.50 shipping for gmpartshouse to send me part number 11562588, which is supposedly magnetic and a 13 mm head, but the right threads for vette.

Hopefully they won't substitute.

So much for that. Received the parts today, non-magnetic.

Good Afternoon,

You ordered part number 11562588. That part is not a magnetic plug. GM no longer produces a magnetic plug. There is no magnetic plug available.

Thanks, Gene.

Anyone have a magnetic plug they want to sell?

I just went out the gmpartshouse site....doesn't say anything about being magnetic....where did you read that or who told you that....think they were misinformed.
