Thanks for the time you put into your response.

Just for you:
Ive got a silver 2001 Z06
Previous owner put in a blackwing intake.
I'd love to get an exhaust and leather Corbeaus.

Get with it man. Just cause C5's from 97 - 2004 all look the same does NOT mean they are all the same either mechanically or electrically!!!!!

Get that info in this thread and or in your profile!!!!! Include any and all MODS made to the car as well............

Is the dealer doing the "latest recall" free of charge????

If not then get the car out of there even if you have to pay to have it towed home. The MOST COMMON cause of the column lock symptoms is a weak or bad battery or loose or corroded battery cables including at the starter. The weak or bad battery causes the column lock electronic to fail and can cause relays related to the column lock system to fry preventing the system from working the way it was designed to work. Here is what happens with a low or bad battery:

The latest GM recall is NO BETTER than the prior GM recall were.... GM has NEVER had a permanent recall for the column lock symptoms. It will fail again and unless you pay to have the 2mph fuel shutoff changed to a high number (any tuner with HP Tuners or EFI Live tuning software can do that) you will get stranded by it when it does fail.

THe LMC5 is the solution that you want. The LMC5 abandons ALL factory and recall wiring AFTER the BCM so it doesn't matter what has failed. that includes the column lock motor. If your column is locked then get the unlocker from the vendor as well. You MUST get the column unlocked BEFORE you can successfully install the LMC5. The unlocker will do that if your column is locked.

Read the info at the following web site about the LMC5 then order it and install it:

www.complianceparts.com

And for your info just because the battery starts the car does NOT mean that it has a voltage level high enough to satisfy the electronics in the car. Engine will start with a battery voltage of 12.2 volts or less. The column lock and other electronics in the car will fail if the voltage measured at the battery before cranking the engine is 12.5 volts or less. Don't use the voltage reading on the dash gauges. You MUST measure the voltage across the battery posts using a digital multi meter. The column lock electronics runs BEFORE the car starts so the voltage needs to be available BEFORE engine crank. Voltage from the alternator AFTER the engine is running is simply too late to help. Dash gauges do NOT report the state of health of the battery. They report the state of health of the charging system. Two completely different things.
