Default Fuel Gauge

Anyone else ever have this problem with their fuel gauge? Yesterday, I filled up my car with gas and the gas gauge read almost 3/4 of a tank. I drove approx. 25 miles looked down and noticed that the fuel gauge was just below a half of a tank. Now, I wasn't in the throttle during that time, I had the cruise set for 75 mph and the car was reading 27-30mpg. I have noticed in the past couple of months that once the car hits 3/4 of a tank it seems that the fuel gauge drops quicker than it used to. Am I just going crazy thinking their something wrong the fuel sending unit or the fuel gauge? Or does the car just consume that much fuel? Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions!

Try running a tank or two with Techron PLUS added - available at most auto parts stores. Put it in the gas tank. May take a tank or two (or three) to clean up deposits in the fuel tanks.

Use top tier gas from now on - http://www.toptiergas.com/

I had all kinds of goofy fuel gauge readings. I used techron and it worked for awhile but the issue always came back. I always thought the BP Amoco station with 93 octane was the way to go. I forced myself to start using a nearby Shell station with 91 octane. I have not had any goofy readings in six months. You need to use the top tier recommended stations, then see if problem persists. Good Luck!
