Default HELP!Can't figure out how/where this goes...

Okay,i'm rebuilding an 01 Z theft recovery car.Attempting to install the rear fascia/bumper cover. This part came with the rear fascia. It does not fit on the outside of the bumper cover, although in the GM parts book AND service manual it looks like it does!It may fit some where inbetween the cover and the body but i cannot figure this out
Keep in mind i did not take this apart!
Thanks-Dominic

That looks a bit like the license plate holder that goes in place of the back up light assembly on the Euro version.

Default Thanks...

...I'm starting to think the part i have is not even a vette part but looks similar to the euro plate frame in the GM parts book .I'll go to the dealer tomorrow to check.

It is Corvette part # 10257158 and it bolts into the opening in the rear fascia where the license plate goes. It is for the European export market (as cliff_ford pointed out) and is listed as a "BRACKET" in the parts catalog. If you got charged for it, return it ..... otherwise do whatever you want with it as you don't need it, and can't use it.
