Also how do you post pictures because I did take those
Cool. You need to put the pictures online somewhere else first, such as Flickr or Photobucket or something. It's free and only takes a minute to create an account. Once you put the pictures up there will be an option on those sites to copy the URL for the picture (the path to it on their site). To copy the URL simply highlight the text and hit CTRL-C on your keyboard if you have a PC. Then when you're posting here you click on the little image icon up above the text box (the one with two little triangles in it), and you paste the URL into the little popup window (click inside the popup window and hit CTRL-V on your keyboard). Just preview your message to make sure it worked.

If you still can't figure it out let me know.

Hey, nice write up and one of the greatest low cost mods!
I did mine a while back and never regretted it. I have the stock H pipe in place and still happy with the results; great idle rumble, no real cruising drone, and great at wot! If you are on a budget, this is for you.

I'm doing this on Friday. Local shop told me would be $70 thought thzt was reasonable. Question I have - should I go with the 1.25 hole or should I go 1.50? I have all stock no X Pipe (yet). Thoughts?

I had this mod done last Fall and it made a tremendous improvement to the sound. I have the stock H pipe and it still sounds great. At idle it only sounds a little louder and at regular crusing speeds the sound is not that noticible. At WOT however, it really sounds good. I used 1 1/2" pipe to connect.

Thanks. Yeah, you really can't go wrong with this. I'm sure a lot more people would do it that still have their stock exhaust if they just knew about it and how easy and cheap it was. I'm still going to replace my exhaust (ordered GHL Bullets) because I want more sound with no drone, but I definitely don't regret this experiment, and I'm happier driving my car until the new exhaust is installed.

That's a fair, average price. I would definitely go with a 1.5" hole myself, and use 1.75" pipe if available. 2" pipe would work with a 1.5" hole, but 2" might be too big because the exhaust tail pipes are no more then 2", maybe less. If you have to, go with the largest hole you can with a 1.5" pipe (probably about 1.35"). You won't be disappointed with this mod, but there's only so much sound you can get from the stock exhaust. Good luck!

Edit: Has anyone else in California done this? I want to try this (especially if it's only $70) but California has ridiculous restrictions.

My muffler shop would not do this today. He gave me a long diatrob on how the exhaust is perfectly balanced and this would not be good for the engine, etc. etc. I will try another shop I guess......

Just a quick question about this...How is the sound while driving long distances ? My '98 coupe is a DD and gets lots of miles put on it. What's different in the sound inside at say...65 mph for a couple of hours at a time ? Please, I'd rather do this than the cut-outs.

California doesn't give a crap about the mufflers. It's the emission equipment and cats.

I live in Clovis CA and did the muffler delete mod. Sounds KILLER. No trouble with smogging it.

Do you need Ti pipe to use on the Z exhaust? And if so, where to get it... im sure it's not just sitting around at most muffler shops.

I've done the bypass to Ti's and am really happy with the sound. Most of all, you don't gain any additional weight.

tinypic.com has no registration and after the upload there is a msgboard link you just copy and paste here. You'd never find the pic again unless you put in a descriptor you'd remember but it's easy for pics like this.

Hi. What size pipe did you use and how long per side to do the mod? Thanks
