Default Electric motor thing on diff?

I noticed a buzzing noise the other day that sounded like it was coming from the rear end. I could hear it from inside the car. I'd never heard it before but had also just been on a couple hundred mile run. It's not doing it today. At any rate, looked under the backend thinking I'd find nothing...lo and behold some electronic stuff hanging off the diff. Please pardon my ignorance, I'm new to Vettes.....but what is that and should it buzz?

What year is your vette...the only thing I can think of is the EBTCM on the rear of 97-98 vettes. Does it have like 6 brake lines and wiring harness connected to a silver box? In any case, it shouldn't be buzzing... maybe you're hearing your fuel pump? Also a problem on early C5's..

It's a 98. Does look like brake lines coming out of one side, but a big beer can size what looks to be electric motor on the other side...has some wires running to it.

Was it buzzing with the car on or off? If the car was running. I'd say fuel pump, they are fairly noisy on the earlier models. If it's buzzing with the car off....well....you got problems.

Relay buzzing. That would be my guess.

I had a strange noise in my car the other day when I was working on it. The battery was dying from the interior lights being on and from sitting ect, and I had this noise start that sounded like it was coming from under the car. Well it turns out it was the CD changer clicking and buzzing like it was constantly switching disks. I charged the battery and it was fine.

Buzzing when running, but not all the time. Only hear it twice after driving a couple hundred miles. It may buzz off and on all the time, I just can't hear it when running down the road. The other day I heard it when I had stopped at a light and once to put the top up. Took it to the dealer today for repair of a leak in rear diff. They told be fuel pump probably but didn't offer that it needed replacing. They acted like it was normal.

turn the key on (don't start the car) you'll hear the fuel pump running, thats what you hear all the time
