Default Engine work in Dallas area?

I have a noise in the bottom end of my LT4 and the quick diagnosis by a local speed shop is a rod knocking. Agreed, it sure sounds like it.

The problem is, they wont 'fix' it. And they cant find a short block for a replacement. I can have them rebuild it for 8-9k but thats my only option with them. Naturally Chevy wont touch it.

Anyone know of any other options? I live in Plano, TX (Dallas suburb).

Thanks

You will have to find someone to take it out and put it back in for you, but Automotive Machine in Fort Worth does excellent work for an affordable price. They did my C5 and I am very pleased with it. Just a good group of guys.

Didn't EG recently move his shop to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area? If so, him and his partner would be my choice.

Well I have to also throw our name into the pot. With over 150 years of automotive experience in our shop --- there is not much that we have not seen. In fact -- we have seen your scenario as you have it described.
I will make you a deal ---- you bring your Vette to the shop and I will discount your bill by 10% as a way to introduce you to Corvettes of Dallas.
If your interested -- call me at the dealership or on my cell -- 214-202-0222.

I'm hoping to use my LT4 top end as the heads were just refurbished last year, but not sure what short blocks would be compatible.

Ill give you a call.

Thanks to all who responded.

Is Shawn Freese still there? He's a great mechanic and a great guy. I didn't know he was that old though. He seems like he's about 115 years younger!
