this is on a corvette? Where did you get that quote? I have called all around. Everybody seems to be in unison for the price: $100 for a 4 wheel alignment and balance. Did you mention or did you ask about what kind of vehicle it was? I kept running into the classic "oh its a C5 corvette, well we don't do many of those. You can try this place or that place." Then when I do get a place that will actually do the work, they claim a C5 corvette is more work then a normal car....I dunno Iam no tech, sounds like a bunch of to me. I could be wrong...I'll wait to see what others say.

I pay $95 for an alignment and $25 per wheel for mounting and balance. They do very good work and I'm happy to pay them that amount.

You guys have any problems with getting a lowered Vette onto the alignment machine? The dumba$$ techs at Friendly Chevrolet (Dallas) scraped the bottom of my rocker panels driving it onto the alignment machine at stock ride height! I can only imagine what would happen now that it is lowered.

As for aligning a C5/C6 it isn't any harder than any other car and is probably easier than a lot of them so don't buy the tale that it is harder. Given that the alignment price in our area is in the $95 range for a 4 wheel alignment and I just paid $67 for a 2 wheel alignment on my Tahoe which is about as old school as it gets.

Just went to tire kingdom. Here's their breakdown.
4 wheel alignment (unlimited alignments for 3 years/transferable to one other vehicle if I sell this one)
On sale $109
Mount/Balance
22.99 per wheel
tax 7%
Total 170.00
Sounded pricey for what it was. But now I'll prob get alignments every month or so to keep the tires nice. I gotta say the service and attitude of those people couldn't have been worse. I was this ()close to walking out , but stayed just cause I needed to get those fresh tires on there... Oh well...

When I got new tires from tire rack I was charge $25 per wheel for mount/balance and road force. I took the wheels off and delivered with the tires to the shop. Shop was only a few miles away and I cleaned the fender wells, etc.
I think alignments are in the $80 range.
good luck

Going sometime this week to get an alignment. But was quoted standard price of $109 plus they have a coupon on their website for $20% off. So if it works out it should cost $87 plus tax.

Had my alignment done at Sears recently- $99.95 for all 4 wheels...they take the VIN off the car and go to the computer for the spec to use...I asked for an 01-04 Z06 spec and they did it no problem for me. (I replaced my entire 97 base suspension with that of a Z06).
to verify that they used that spec- they even gave me the alignment pre and post check form...it said at the top 01 - 04 Z06 specifications.

could you tell a major difference in handling with the z06 alinement? Will this alinement wear out the tires quicker?

Now to make you guys a little bit jealous. The shop where I take my race tires and 17x11 wheels will do a complete mount and balance for me for FREE. All I do is drop a few bucks on the tech for doing the work. I am in there quite a few times during the season so it is a great cost saver.
I do try to do business with them when I in the need of tires or tire related service.

The spec for the Z06 is a little more aggressive then that of the base C5- only time will tell if it has an affect on the tire wear- but after I swapped out the base suspension for the Z06 (along with C6 Z51 sway bars and metal end links) the car dropped about 1/2" all around. I believe this is due to the Z springs not having as much arc as the springs I took off (my goal was to get the stock ride height back along with having a stiffer handling suspension)
The before and after alignment was not as impressive to me as was the change from base springs to Z06 springs even though my alignment was not at Z06 spec, it was not way off of those numbers. I didn't want to run into a situation several thousand miles later and my tires wearing uneven so I went with the alignment a few months after the swap out- letting the car settle in to the new suspension was something I wanted to do before getting it aligned.
It is like an entirely new car after all is said and done!

The aliment does not go out that soon but to keep tires true the balance on tires will change every 3000 miles. Ask about getting the tires balanced regularly
