First off let me introduce myself, My name is Chip and I am working on building a tube chassis LS6 mid engine car with C5 suspension which I have been told is the same as C6 parts, (input please).
My question is with the C5 supsension I was told the front wheel offset of 54mm was important to the handling and if the C6 is the same parts and I want to use the C6 Z06 wheels how will the 40mm offset work or not work? I have an IMSA body style so fitting under the bodywork is not an issue.
thanks,
Chip

Hi Chip,
Your asking a really loaded question. Offsets for C5 front wheels and C6's are the same. C6 Z06 im not sure of, but I'll take your word that they are 40mm.
If so, that would increase the front track slightly. Would that affect handling? I have no idea without knowing exactly what your doing. IMHO, going to a custom frame, mid-engine design is going to signifigantly affect your handling anyway, so I doubt your going to notice a 1" larger front track.
I thought more about the offset in relation to ball joint center line. I was under the impression more of the wheel on the outside of the hub will fight you more while in a turn do to the scub radius.
Maybe it wont matter though, I mean your right about me being so far out from anything stock to begin with.
