Default AH warming up

Every now and again (2 out 0f 25 times) upon starting the console states that active handling is warming up and it shows the little orange icon.
Doesn't it warm up on the other 23 starts?

Default AH warmup or failing sensor?

I have some issues with active handling engaging at inappropriate times and cancelling cruise control; details are posted at corvettemechanic dot com. I'm not suggesting you guys have my problem, but it's worth considering. There is a post here on this board where BLACKZ06 has made some interesting comments you might also want to find.

Good luck,
Eric

The warming up message is a normal message that can occur every time you start the car. When the engine is started AH expects to calibrate the steering to determine where straight ahead is located. This calibration is performed in order to compensate for wear in the steering gear. Calibration occurs when the car is driven in a straight line over a speed of 6 mph for a distance of several hundred feet. If you turn the front wheels during this initial calibration period the system waits until it detects the proper wheel speed signals and the steering wheel sensor signal to perform the calibration. This is when you get the warming up message.

Once again Corvette Forum to the rescue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got the active handling warming up code for the first time this morning. Did a search for the cause on CF and found the above and realized what I did, exactly as referenced above. I had cranked the wheels lock to lock as I backed out of my driveway which I do not normally do.

Not a Corvette Problem, driver error. Thanks Corvette Forum

I had a friend drive my Z and he said he thought the steering was a little sloppy. I didn't think much of it until a read a post about someone finding some nuts loose on their steering rack a few months after changing cams. This past week I noticed the AH warming up message a couple times. Any chance any of you have had your steering rack out replacing the cam??? I need to check mine out when I get a few minutes....no telling when that might be
