Default Best harmonic balancer

Getting the old walking belt syndrom, noticed a lot of post about this caused from harmonic balancer.Well checked my 99 with 82k looks like a lot of movement. Has not thrown the belt off yet but close. A lot of members dislike factory balancers,so whats the best to run on a stock 99 coupe a4?

ATI is probably the best unit out there, may not be necessary with a stock setup but it is a good unit. I have also installed a Powerbond 25% under drive on a friends car, also a very nicely built unit. New Era stocks those for a reasonable price.

That will be the next thing to go on my car. I've already replaced the idle, tensioner and AC pulleys (as well as a host of belts).

Summit racing has a 25% underdrive for our cars that is very well built and priced great. I've had one on my car for a year now and zero issues.

When I was building my 02 ZO6 (Heads, Cam Fast 90/90) I was torn between all the recommendation for different dampers and under drive pullys.. This is better, that it the best No get this one. Yada,,Yada Yada!!!!

Steve Doten has modded NUMEROUS C5's and was very pleased with Powerbond! So, on his advice I ordered one.

Holy Crap! For the price, it's one hell of a bang for the buck! EXCELLENT DAMPER! If I had to do it all over again, I would still order and and install a power bond 25% underdrive pulley. I have had ZERO issues with it and it installed like a GLOVE!

I decided to pin my damper to crank. Sounded like that job was very complicated. I borrowed the tools from a buddy. Thanks BUD (you know who you is! ) and was very surprised at how SIMPLE that job was! I had the entire job done in 30 min. and that was my first time doing it! If you have the damper off and can borrow or rent the damper pinning kit, DO IT! Its that simple!

100% satisfied! Thanks Steve for recommending that damper!!!!

I purchased a Fluidampr (http://www.fluidampr.com/CHEVROLET.htm) as well. I haven't installed it yet though. Not too many people here seem to run them.

Did you install it yourself? Did you have it pinned?

i installed a fluidamper last year, pinned it and used an arp bolt to hold it all in. i also got a lot of different torque setting quotes from forum members on the bolt, but ended up calling arp and used what they told me to use. also got a lot of flack when i posted that info, more ' you should have used this .... torque setting/sequence '. anyways, i have had no issues with the fluidamper or, the bolt holding it all together.
