Though I cant comment on the Hurst, I do have the Breathless shifter and it is a great unit. I personally love how notchy the shifter is. You will know beyond a shadow of a doubt when you're in gear. They also include multiple springs with the kit with different stiffness ratings.
Overall, the entire piece looks very stout, and is a performer no doubt.

The biggest difference is the adjustability of the BPP. Amazingly, you have 16 different positions to fit just about any arm or shoulder length/width. Make sure you:
1) Use the weakest springs and
2) Add a couple of .05-inch thick washers to the detent plunger that is located in the tranny housing (underneath). This is also called a variation of the anti-Venom mod.
I have had a Hurst in my Z06 for 5 years, and it just keeps getting better. Much more precise than stock. From what I have read, the feel of the BPP shifter is about the same as Hurst. For me, angle of the shifter is not a problem, but it might be nice to be able to change the position.
I will give you a huge negative on the BPP. I struggled with that shifter for over a year trying to get used to it but finally went back to the stock shifter. The BPP with the weakest springs increases the centering force to the 3-4 gate considerably. If you drive on the track or the street this gets tiresome quickly. Getting the shifter in low or second is hard as the gate is narrowed and you have to really pull the shifter over to get into gear. The same goes for getting into 5th gear. Since it takes so much force you tend to overpower the shift and override the reverse lockout and hit reverse instead of 5th. Compared to the stock shifter where you just hold the top of the shifter and just toss it into 5th. I took the car to Carlisle and had the BPP guys work on the shifter and it didn't improve any. One thing that was really bothersome was the shifter rattle. At WOT near red line in third and fourth gear it made some much noise my in car camera would pick up the noise over the wind and exhaust noise you get on a road course.
Although I have never tried the Hurst I doubt it is any better. The shifter design is nothing but a stick through a hole. All anybody can do to adjust the gates is adjust the fulcrum point and add tabs that springs can push against. When GM improved the shift feel on the C6 they did all the improvements in the transmission which allowed them to shorten the shifter arm.
Actually getting into and out of gear (BPP) is much easier after doing the antivenom mod. Going into 5th is not as easy, but all other gears are no problem at all. Some rattling occurs at 4000+ rpm, but that doesn't happen more than a couple times a day for me.
Go with the Breathless shifter. The Hurst is way to notchy and difficult to get into reverse. I've had both and would do the breathless. I now have the B&M Sport Shifter and REALLY love it.
If those are the only 2 shifters you're looking at....
I have the BPP shifter. Like all the adjustments you get and different springs. I don't get any rattling. Maybe the other guys didn't put in the plastic insulator that comes with the kit. I also added a weighted shift **** to get rid of some of the notchy feeling. Adjusted it up high and it feels a little better everytime I drive it, (which ain't that much.)
