I have a 99 C5 with an A4 tranny. I am installing a Stage 5 RPM tranny this week. I just heard today, that there may be an upgrade for my torque tune.
I heard the 2004 torque tube was beefed up by Chevrolet. Does anyone know if that would be advisable to seacrch for? I am needing something that can handle 750 RWHP.
In 2001(i think) they upgraded. But yours will work fine, as long as your couplers are in good shape. But you can upgrade if you re dead set on it. There s been ALOT of threads on this recently. Good luck in whichever way u go!
Thanks. I know my couplers have the 10mm bolts, and the 2001 and up have the 12mm bolts. I heard in 04, something even sturdier was added; I just don't know what that is.
I think the couplers where changed to 12mm instead of 10 mm which yours has.
You can get the Carbon Fiber Driveshaft that LG answers if your really want to upgrade but I think yours should be fine. I never really hear the TT twisting or breaking before the rear end

I think your fine. I know plenty of guys running between 760 and 1000 RWHP with a pre 2004 torque tube. Only thing they did was change to one solid coupler in the rear.
