What Y2Kvert4me is saying is that you need the rear tires to be @ 1/2" larger in diameter than the fronts.

If they aren't you can have problems with the traction control.

Use this site to plug in front and rear sizes to make sure you maintain at least 1/2" difference in diameter.

I'm not sure what you didn't understand?
knee jerk reaction they are 18 vs 17 after all just clarifying that the tire is not actually taller alone with out the rim that is all =) "profile speaking"

Looking at the Falken tire size availability, I'd suggest using 255/40/17 with the 285/35/18 rears.

Which one of the numbers is the tire height. If it is the middle ones then it is the same as a stock zo6 tire. The 265 and 285 is the width. And the other is the rim.

I don't see where the problem is.

I ordered 265-40-17 front and 285-35-18 rear. The stock zo6 size 265-40-17 front and 295-35-18 in the rear. They are the same as stock z06 size except the rear will be 3/4 of inch narrower.

Where is the problem.

Also is this rear tire going to fit in my rear wheel well. And is the front going to fit.

I ordered 265-40-17 front and 285-35-18 rear. The stock zo6 size 265-40-17 front and 295-35-18 in the rear. They are the same as stock z06 size except the rear will be 3/4 of inch narrower.

The middle number of the tire size is the aspect ratio. It determines how much tire sidewall there is, and thus, the overall height of the tire.

But here's what you need to remember...the aspect ratio is expressed as a percentage of the tires width. ie, 265/40/17....the thickness of the sidewall will be 40% of the 265mm width.

So, comparing a 255/40/17, and a 275/40/17...the 275 is not only wider, but is also a taller tire, even though they are both 40 series tires. 40% of 275 is more sidewall than 40% of 255.

Using actual heights for the 3 tires I mentioned, you can see how much difference it makes:

255/40/17 = 25.0" tall
265/40/17 = 25.3" tall
275/40/17 = 25.7" tall

And the rear 285/35/18 will be 25.9" tall.

You'll be fine with the 265/285 combo...but as you can see, the 275 would be too close in height to the 285 rear, and has potential to cause some problems with unwanted traction control engagement.

According to the link I posted the 275 front / 285 rear combo will give you the 1/2" difference you need. IF the site is accurate.

I also have stock Z06 wheels and run 275/40x17 and 295/35x18. That combo has .4" difference. They fit with no problem.
