Simulated 1/4 mile run mustang dyno!!!
A Performance Shop near by, has just installed a Mustang Dyno. But when I stopped in the other day, they had showed me a video on there computer of the owners Notch Back Mustang Nitrous car running a 10.20 ET. on the dyno. They are offering 1 Dyno pull and 2- 1/4 mile runs for $85.00 They had said the 1/4 mile simulater is within 1 tenth accurate... So I came home and searched for info. Everywhere I looked said the same thing. Within 1 tenth accurate.. What a COOL way to check out your Times without hurting your car on the trac, or driving 2 hrs. away to See your times....It also gives you your Ideal 60' time...
" HAS ANYONE TRIED THE MUSTANG" 1/4 MILE
"SIMULAT0R YET"? :crazy

I've done a couple of runs before but did not fair to good 13's but I was new to the car. The week after the dyno I ran 12.4@118 in the 1/4at the local track.

you see these at all of the Harley and bike week events....they have two bikes lined up side by side and a christmas tree...the promoter says it is with in a tenth and a mph...the problem is the machine does not take into consideration, air drag from car to car, or traction...if everyone could leave at 6000 rpms and dump the clutch with out spinning or breaking that would change my opinion..

IMO this is just taking bench racing one step further. If you want to know what your car will run, take it to the track. There is no way a dyno can accurately simulate racing conditions. The hardest part of drag racing is launching the car. It takes a balance between RPMs and traction. I would save my $85 and go to a test and tune. Plus you will never simulate the joy of passing the traps at 115+ mph.

Test-n-tune only costs about $40.00 to get in by us and you can get more runs in.

Well, I think the 1/4 mi dyno is cool. I would definitly use one if we had one in town. All those guys saying go to the track prolly has a track in town! For me it's 2 hrs each way. I knew of this option but have never talked to anyone that has done it. Do you launch on the dyno or??????

Now i believe After you've been to the track and know what it will run in real world conditions,Then i would like to pull it on the simulator to see really how close it is, And i defently believe its a great tuning tool to go along with the Dyno, but its not drag racing,Its just a number from a machine.. And Some would say its just my opinion.

The two big issues I see with a static dyno is there is no "air flow" for those of us that use a vararam set-up or the air-flow over the car. So with this dyno set-up, a corvette with 500 rwhp has the same ET as a car or truck ( with the same rwhp) with the areodynamics of a brick? I think not!

Only benefit I can see is I won't need a cage on the Mustang dyno. HP is highly maleable on a Mustang. I would think any 1/4 times would be the same. The dyno operator could enter that you car weighs 8500 lbs and you'll turn 8 second times.

I'm sure the 1/4 mile Mustang Dyno will be enjoyed by many people. To test there new mods and dial in before going to the trac. Or just for sh----ts and giggles!!! All you drag racers don't get too offended!!!
Wasen't ever saying it compares to a Drag Strip, As far as the FUN factor!!!
Ed, my cars been to the trac many times, w/previous owner... 11.13 et @ 124 on a 100 shot... I know it's fast... Why don't you take your car Ed?

If someone came bragging about their dyno ET i would laugh. Real world conditions down 1320ft of concrete and asphalt not two steel rollers with a brake

chris.shea That is a fast car you have there, I like how it was burning up those M/Ts thru the gears, How much power are you laying down? and is it N/A?

I will when it's done.
I spend too much time making everyone elses run.
PS, like Terry's, and this one ---> http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/drag-r...-internal.html
And countless other bracket cars, and even top sportsman cars on up to 7 sec 185+ mph.
