You do not need the HUD windshield. Technically there is a difference in the HUD one and regular (and about $1,000 difference in price) but you will NOT be able to tell any difference in real life.

Do a search and you should find a thread or 100 that goes through exactly what you need. It really isn't a lot of parts, though.

I was looking at this old thread and realized that I did not ever post my results of swapping the small boards.

I swapped the boards and it did not work.

The miles is kept in the large board.

Hey vette.mix, I had to send mine to pacethis to have it corrected but if you want to do it I would get on it because he is selling all the equipment very soon. Oh the mileage is in the big board not the small one in the corner. I tried swapping the small one but it was no change. Oh by the way vette.mix, I just got done with the HUD install. went pretty good.

What's the verdict from the guinea pig on changing out the green board on the mileage reset?

Kind of frightening that it is that easy to do. Makes me wonder how many are altered.

Could you recommend some equipment? Currently we're using J-2534 to do the basic programming needed for most vehicles. this happens to be the last thing we're missing right now... thanks for any help you can give.

So it is clear that Tech II will not change the mileage.

If you are looking for answers to several questions like:

1. How to distinguish HUD from None-HUD capable Instrument Cluster?

2. How to find inexpensive & fast service to update mileage on new Instrument Cluster?

3. What are the Law requirements for someone to update the mileage?

4. What is it all about GM stating that Instrument Cluster should not be on its face for more than 15 min?

I posted it under another topic:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ansferred.html

My postings are #8 & #9.

Please note that replacing 1997-early 1999 Instrument Cluster with late 1999 to 2004 requires relocation of one bulb for airbag warning light from one location to another, there is a separate topic for that though the picture is no longer there

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...d-install.html

Here is the picture. Big thanks to whoever made this picture in the past!

Big thanks to whoever made this picture in the past !

Please note that there is also a good YouTube video (not mine but by TM) how to swap remove and install Instrument Cluster without entirely removing dashboard and pain with glove box. Just remember that video talks about one cable while it is correct for None-HUD for HUD Instrument cluster there is an extra cable going out to HUD.

Happy HUD Projection!

May the force of hologram be with you, keep your eyes safely on the road knowing thy speed!

Hi Gusto14, It is funny you say that because it is the same link I posted the answers myself there and I just wanted to provide the link in case someone is looking for the answers under this topic: "Tech II (need to correct mileage for an HUD install)"
You are just quoting the same link that I did above.
That means I am doing something right.
