got a wiring diargam/writeup on the taillights (basically the wires accessible when you pull the lights out)?
i have trailer brake/turn signals spliced in there and there are some weird gremlins (when running lights are on brake light on one side will not work).
i have been messing with it for a bit now but it seems no matter what I do something does not work right on the damn trailer. tired of trial and error
the lights on the car work fine... so i know it's me

Are you saying, "brake lights work with running lights off, brake lights don't work with running lights on?" If so, you have a ground problem on the side that dosn't work. Now, I'm not there with a Multimeter, so just take this as a WAG.
EDIT: Not anything wrong with pulling a trailer with a Corvette.

Didn't say there was anything wrong with it. I just like bugging my eyes out like that...
