Default Door Power Issue for the Electrical Guru's

Couple weeks had an issue w/ total power loss to the passenger door (2004 roadster) .... hooked up the scan tool and commanded the window down ...... been working ever since.

As of yesterday (Saturday) got to a charity car show, had windows down, started to rain, DRIVERS side window would not go up and still doesn't ....

Any thoughts on why my gremlin has gone to the drivers door now. I emailed the mechanic who use the scan tool last time, he is puzzled.

Thank you!

Did you check the fuses? Pull the door control button set up from the rear and make sure the connector is still on? Did you open up the door to take a look at the door control module itself? I hear that the relays inside of them will go bad. Supposedly you can swap the left and ride door control modules to test them, but don't hold me to that...I've only heard you can...not positive. Pull your currrent codes.

Fuses are fine ... connectors are plugged and tight, I don't think swapping modules actually work, did that 2 weeks ago when the left door was dead and the right door worked .... no difference. Have no codes

I don't have the C-5 wiring any more but someone here will. Do you hear a click when pushing the window up button? Can you get to the door motor to see if power is getting to the motor when you give it the up command? We really need the wiring for the LDCM in order to find out if there is power there or not. I would think the largest wires to it would be the power but its just a guess. Send a PM to Bill Curlee as I'm guessing he'll know what to tell you to look at specifically.

Ever get a fix for this driver's window fail to operate?
My wife's 2003 C-5 has the same intermittent problem.
Right window switch WILL operate right window.
No power to drivers window, door locks or mirror on driver's door controls.
I wiggled the wires at the door hinge area and window went up.
Connectors at door mounted control panel switch are plugged in good.
Any hints where to find wiring diagram for this car? (50th convertible)

I didn’t read other posts so apologies if duplicate- Check the electrical harness in the accordion tube connecting the door to the body- sometimes it gets loose from hitting pot hole/bumpy roads, who knows. Fix could be as simple as unplugging & plugging back in securely, but many find that the female end of the plug gets bent/loose you can use a small metal rod or tool pick or something bend them back opposite direction carefully to make a snugger fit when the male end gets plugged in.

that was my issue, caused other problems too

If the window worked during your wiggle test I suspect you've a floating short in the wiring harness or bad continuity at a connector / terminal block.

"If the window worked during your wiggle test I suspect you've a floating short in the wiring harness or bad continuity at a connector / terminal block. "

Thank you.
Just hit some bumps today & alarms went off all over. 'Traction alert', fuel to zero, 'warning, power loss'.
More bumps & all came back.
Wish I had a wiring diagram to see what is common.
I wasn't impressed with All Data when that was paid up.

If you have issues on the data line your fuel gauge will go to empty, your water temp maxes out, power windows don’t work and all the DIC warnings scroll through and the car won’t but your issue was only an intermittent issue...I guess you just lost power for a second...is that what you saw ??

Problem becoming more frequent today.
I found a ground schematic from 2004 that addressed this issue so I'm going to clean all the grounds to see if this problem calms down before we head out on the next leg of cross country adventures.
Thanks for your input.

Most of these are module grounds not the grounds everyone cleans !!...we just had a Forum member who had what you were seeing on the IPC with a no start...after he disconnected and reconnected the Seat Control Module his issue was fixed...the ground pin at the connector was a little crappy and when he plugged it back in the 12 volts he had on his data wire went away !!

C5 Diag

THANKS for the tips. I've been reading of problems and solutions for nearly 11 hours. Every 20 minutes it sounds more like my 'exact' problem. Soon as the rains stop I'll get to checking wiring. Hard to work under a car cover.

I'm the guy that C5Diag is referencing. Check your cowl water drain. That's where my problem started. My passenger side floor became wet due to a clogged cowl water drain. That caused some corrosion on electrical connections in the instrument panel control panel.
There are two connectors that unclip from the left side of the box. One has four wires and the other has nine wires. Pull the black take off of the connectors, then pull the grey caps off the connectors.
The grey caps have electrical combs on them. Check these for corrosion. If you have the slightest bit of corrosion on these combs it could be causing your problem.
Clean the combs then use something like DeoxIt D5 on the combs and the plugs that the combs go into. I bought the DeoxIt D5 at a local Guitar Center.
I'm hoping that this helps you! If not, I would listen to everything that C5Diag recommends. He really knows what he is talking about!

Thanks for the tips. We had been driving through rain for 3 days then all this started. I closed the driver's door firmly last night and everything went to normal.
Question: Where is 'the box'?
." corrosion on electrical connections in the instrument panel control panel.", "There are two connectors that unclip from the left side of the box"
Are these below the glove box under the passenger's foot board with the fuses and computer? OR pull the instrument panel and look at connectors there? Sorry to be so ignorant. Don't give up on me yet.

Yes, the area that I'm talking about is direct beneath the glove box.
Check out my post "My car won't start". C5Diag gave me some great photos and a short video. That should explain everything.
If that doesn't work, get back with C5Diag, he really knows what he is doing.
