Reason: Didn't give year of car.
When you remove the rear diff from the trans there is a seal around the main shaft from the trans. I bet thats it??

From what you describe it's the same as a problem I had about one and a half years ago. It would leave a couple drop puddle when it was warm after a nice drive. It is the gasket between the trans and the rear, I had the warranty so it was covered. Good thing too because they had to lower the rear sub-frame to remove the rear and trans. I think the total was close to 1000 bucks. Because I had the warranty I only had to pay for the re-alignment.
There might be other ways to slove the problem but since it was covered I didn't worry about the possible short-cuts.

Reason: I failed third grade spelling
I had my rear cradle out (for a good cleaning) to fix my leaky diff. I did it without a lift in the driveway. It was not that bad of a job. I did mine only after a great write-up with many pics (on the forum) of doing this. I would do it again and save a ton of money for more mods!!
