Default LG C6 Z06 1 7/8 Super Pro headers in a C5

I've been using LG's 1 3/4 Pro headers for a long time in my car but have not been able to cross the 600rwhp line NA. I'm at 583rwhp now measured at a Rototest dyno so that would be around 642rwhp on a Dynojet. Not that I need the extra 17rwhp but it would be fun to be able to get 600rwhp NA.

LG do not make any 1 7/8 for the C5 so I thought it could be interesting to try if their headers made for the C6 Z06 would fit in a C5

And the result is YES

I had to do some minor mods to the car. Shave off a couple of mm from the engine mounts(both sides) and cut a little from the edge of the plate extending from the frame.

The engine mount.

The plate cut along the header.

Everything in place.

Driver side.

Passenger side.

I do not expect to find the 17rwhp from only the headers change but hopefully I get closer to 600

Damn nice setup.

Post your dyno results when you get them.

It will be on the dyno soon

It will be interesting to see the difference between the LG 1 3/4" and 1 7/8" on a 427' engine. Maybe it's some truth in the advertised peak power gain ..... and most important that I do not loose anything down low.

Looks like the example fit has a dry sump system... would they
fit the regular wet sump system?

At very low RPM's the larger header will look a little better at the start of the pull.....then the line will cross dramatically and in th 3700 - 4000 range you will likely experience a 15 - 20 ft/lb loss in RWTQ.....upstairs the larger and much shorter primary tube should be worth 8-10 peak and slightly more past peak closer where you would likely shift the combination (curve will hang on better).

Not much in this hobby is a "free lunch" as they say....at least not related to camshafts and headers (cylinder heads are actually a different story if properly chosen). You will certainly take a hit in low RPM torque/horsepower output, but the larger tube will bring more to the party upstairs and if you drag race (or roll race on the street) it will be a worthwhile mod as the engine will constantly be in the area of the curve the 1 7/8 headers help improve. A roadrace application however would be far more questionable, especially shorter tracks with lots of tight curves.

Looking forward to your actual dyno results and hopefully a clear A-B dyno comparison (overlay) from the swap.

Cheers,
Tony
