Ok, does an X-Pipe make your exhaust louder or quieter?
I have always thought quieter but some people have said louder. :confused:
I know it reduces popping, and I know it slightly "changes" the tone of your exhaust not but does it actually make it louder or quieter or keep it the same? :confused:

The volume of exhaust should be the same, but the burble will be reduced since the X-pipe balances the exhaust pulses from bank to bank (inherent in 360 degree crank shafts--street V8's; but not inherent in 180 degree cranks--racing V8's, Ferraris, and Lotus).

It cuts back on the popping and gurgling sound during decel alot. It does not affect the overaul sound.

Seems like it got louder to me with the combined installation of the headers/X-Pipe.
When I had the cam installed, the exhaust system got much louder, even got some good compliments at dyno day.

It made my car louder. Quite a bit louder, now that I really think about it. I had the Corsa Pace Car exhaust installed when the car was new and then began getting the popping noises. I ordered the Corsa "X" pipe and had that installed to stop the popping. It did, but it made the car louder. It also changed the pitch of the exhaust and made it just a little deeper. I thought about putting the stock crossover pipe back on, but I got used to the new sound. It's o.k., I guess, but a little loud for my taste. But it is all very subjective, you know?

deeper and more refined but not as loud. direct comparison done between my friends 00 coupe and mine after my corsa X-pipe install.
