Default Noisy headlight

I am guessing I am about to have a headlight motor go out. Is there anything I can do to prevent the problem and stop the noise on my 2002 C5? Thanks

If it sounds like a machine gun, you have a stripped plastic gear. Do a search, you can buy another plastic gear or use B Franker or Rodney Dickman metal gears. Rodney Dickman has a neat metal bracket for later year C5s where you must epoxy the gear case close. B Franker's gear is all metal, some prefer this.
