Anyone else had fitment issues with new FAST 102 on C5?
**Got it to Fit, see my 2nd post.**
**Pics Added**
Just got a brand new Fast 102 for cathedral port LS heads to install on a clients '03 Vette.
The top of the manifold on the last runner is wedged tight against the bottom side of the fiberglass cowl area. I removed the factory push-pin in the middle of the cowling to help with it sliding into place, but it is still too tight a fit to even get all the intake bolts started. Not to mention the first time the motor torques over something is going to crack. ie-manifold or fiberglass cowling.
I called Fast tech line and they said they had not heard of any problems and said that it should fit a C5. The tech told me he would ask around the office and call me back. I never got a return call.
I really want to be able to use this 102 on this 427.
But, surely Fast didn't release an intake that doesn't fit the most often modded of all Corvettes.
I had to grind some material from the back to clear the factory bolt in the cowling.
The intake will almost go back far enough to get all the bolts started, but it is so tight against the cowling on the top I'm afraid the first time the engine torques over it will crack something. It rubbed the paint off the shell just from trynig to push it back far enough. **I also removed the 3 rubber stoppers from the bottom of the Fast to see if that would give me more clearance, but it had no effect.

After talking with a few other helpful shops I decided to try my spacers idea and it worked great.
I ended up using a 3/16" spacer after the intake was all torqued down and I felt comfortable with the clearance around the cowling.
You can compare the pics from above and see the room this added.
Good advice: Always pressure test. This will ensure you don't have vacuum leaks or boost leaks before you start tuning. This will show if you have lower injector o-rings leaking too. Be sure to cap off the pcv and evap nipples of the intake for testing only.
All in, all done.
I re-tuned it and drove it over the weekend. No problems with it rubbing the cowling. SOTP feels like it gained a lot under the curve.

Joshua - We're in contact with FAST along with you. I will let you know their response when we get one. I'm planning to install one this weekend on our shop C5 if time allows. It would be good to see the clearance issue first hand.

Got a reply from FAST this morning...
We'll put one on a car shortly to see if we can add some more feedback. If there are modifications required, we will make those available through our shop. Stay tuned...
We did not have any issues on the C5 that we installed the manifold on.

Shawn at VA Speed will be putting my 427 back in the C5 in the next week or so. It has a FAST in the L92/LS3 flavor. I would think they use the same top shell. I'm sure we'll hear if there is a fitment problem.

Is this the bottom line w/ the 102 in the C5??
drop the cradle a hair w/ washers to fit??
does that affect the halfshaft angle out back by raising the rear?
how about the alignment or handling of the car? not sure if this is a big deal.........

Shawn at VA Speed put one on the 427. I checked it last night. It's tight but it clears - barely. He did have to remove the pin from the wiper cowl. This is the FAST for the L92/LS3 heads.
BTW: He opened up the manifold for a NW 107mm TB.

VA speed put one in my 2003 Z and it fit had to remove the wiper pin as Kevin stated but it fits.
On my cam/ bolt on car it netted me 14rwhp and 3 rwtq besides it looking cool I think I should of put the money in the heads!!

LS7 427 intake install
AS we all know there is more than one way to build a 427. I am looking to put a LS7 head 427 in my C5. Has anyone tried this using the 427 LSRX intake?

I just put the 102mm fast & 102mm NW TB on,My car idles better & also has better throttle response with the 102mm.I had a ported 90/90 before that.I put washers underneath the cradle like RMS-MAN did ,But I put them in the front & rear & took out that center pin.I also had to grind down the top of my water pump for the TB to fit,I didn't want to grind any more of the water pump,So I took some material off the TB.I was grinding a $500 TB .I'm racing Saturday. We'll see how it feels.....................Paul
