Default engine whine

does anybody know what is causing this whining noise thats coming from the engine? it does it at idle and in motion, in gear or in neutral

Sounds like a vibration noise to me.

Check the level of your power steering fluid. That has a similar whine if your low.

Wouldn't power steering whine when the wheel is turned? This seems to be rpm dependant and wheel position is straight

Its not the power steering fluid but he's trying to help or not. R u talking about the whistle noise or the steady ring noise?

Possible serpentine belt pulley/idler/tensioner bearings wearing out.

It could be what he is suggesting so to elimit that, take ur serpentine belt off ,but i dont think thats it but doesn't hurt to try. That sounds similar to a vacuum leak to but just through **** out there like the other guys.
