I have a 2000 that leaks fuel on the driver side when I fill my gas tank full. I read through all the previous posts on this issue and decided to drop my tank last night to find the leak.

I removed the tank, fully inspected it and cannot find any cracks. I capped off the crossover hole and filled the tank with water, no leaks.
The crossover hole is slightly out of round. The crossover tube is rubber with a hose clamp. Would the hole being out of round cause a fuel leak?

I think I might pull the Crossover tube from the car hook it up to the tank and check for leaks, but I am not sure if I can get my hand up on the passenger side to loosen the clamp.

It is frustrating for a part to be so hard to remove and then not be able to find the exact cause of the leak!!

Any suggestions?

Unrelated, but curious... were you able to remove the tank without removing the driveline?

I am pretty sure the out of round crossover hole is the problem...just purchased a different tank.


To remove the tank I dropped my mufflers and the center section of the exhaust. I was able to reach up and loosen the crossover clamp and disconnect the smal line. Was a PIA, lots of cuts on my hands!!
