Need some help on tracking down a 01 ls6 thats not starting...
was fine, started it and was running rough, reserve fuel flashing at me on the dic. sputtered out and died...
got a few gallons in the tank, cranks and cranks, wont start.
figured old filter/regulator was bad so got a fresh one in today,
still just cranks. Took a 60-58psi while cranking reading at the rail, holds to 50 after 15 min so its not a stuck injector, got spark at the plug pulled 2 and inspected after cranking and they are dry. checked injector pulses and what do you know, only one cyl is pulsing!
Why and how to fix?

nope no codes except a general misfire code that i cleared after it stumbled and died. only codes are vertical and horizonal position sensors that are missing physically from the car. Im stumped, one cylinder has a injector pulse aprox each second, and the other 7 are dead...

Are all the injectors getting 12 volts? Which injector is pulsing?
Check for twelve volts at each injector. If okay, suspect either the PCM or the wiring to it as the PCM momentarily grounds each injector to make it fire. Good luck!!!! Also pull all codes.

my real confusion is that it was running at idle smooth, and then just started sputtering and acted like it was fuel starvation issue, thats why i changed the filter/regulator and checked the fuel pressure at the schrader valve and found a healthy 58psi. then i checked the plugs and they were dry after lots of cranking. Thats when i suspected the injectors not pulsing....
bottom line is if it was the pcm wireing then why would it stumble and run iratic for 20 seconds? I would think it would just crash?
each spring loaded injector clip reads 6.6vdc across the two poles when tested with the conector off the injector with ignition on.
You can't take the reading like that because the injectors are fired by grounds, not 12 volts. You should have 12 volts(referenced to chassis ground) at pin A(pink wire) of every injector.
ok, i just checked, 12.2 with ign on, 11.8 while cranking on the pinks, now what?
Ok, so we know that the ignition relay is closing, and the injector fuses are good, and associated wiring. Since the #4 plug has no evidence of fuel, I question if the injector is really firing. So if you are sure you have good fuel pressure, and are sure you are not getting any fuel in the cylinders, then you'll need to figure out why the PCM has disabled the injectors. This would be consistent with a security issue, but you report no codes.
yes, thats what i thought, car has a vats bypassed with resistor and no security light on dash so i dont think its the vats.
In the interest of being thorough, I check and make sure you have good spark. You might even consider a shot of starting fluid in the intake, just to see if she'll fire (just me).
Worth taking a look at G106 above the starter. It provides grounds for the PCM.
If you are confident you have good spark, no fuel getting in the cylinders, and no security issues...then you will have to inspect the pcm connector c1 (blue connector) for security, evidence of corrosion, etc.
ok, im gonna check 106 now, i just checked 107 at the head and its good. pulled 4 random wires and spark jumped to the plugs so that seems fine. i just pulsed all the injectors one by one with test leads and they all click. im so confused why the DIC wont show anything.
