FYI just another THANKS! and to let you know that you guys are great. I just went through this DIY exercise and I figured your info helped me save $1430 over a trip to my friendly GM dealer to fix this problem. Thanks again!

jesus christ! If I were either Mr.Bill or Trussme, I'd shoot myself. How many times do people have to be reminded of this:

Sticky: The Improved***** Ultimate DIY Thread ... ******* (Multi-page thread )

Do people just jump in here, not read a single word and ask for the damn info?!? This thread wouldn't be half as long if people would read. I'm a little curious how they intend to fix their issues if they can't do a little digging for themselves in an online forum.

Sorry, just my .02 cents.

edit:

fyi, I have done plenty of digging. So much so I fixed my OWN EBCM, with a "how-to remove it," "how-to disassemble once removed" and finally fixing the retarded little relay whose solder points come undone. As well as hitting the major ground points along the car and oh one other thing my own CLB relay from ANOTHER diy on this very forum. Saved...250 for absfixer right? Also 50 or 60 for a simple clb relay from one of the vendors. Cleared all codes and no issues with either TCS or my CLB.

All the info is available, you simply need to apply yourself and you'd be amazed at how much you learn and the amount of money you save. But it all starts with READING!!!

Do you need to clean all the connectors out? Or is there an easier way to solve that light problem. I cleaned out one and it wasn't even that bad. Plz send an email to me if you can pfeifz28@yahoo.com

It has been a long time now and I am still having problems with the ABS, Tracktion control indicators. I have checked most connectors and grounds and did not resolve problem yet. These are the current history codes I get. C 1214H; B 2282H, B 2284H, B 2264H, U 1064H;
B 2283H, B 2285H, B 2265H, U 1064H;.
What am I missing? What should I check? Thank you.

I think what a lot of people also miss understand is the difference between the early 97 to 2000 EBCM which are non repairable and unavailable according to most even though there are some places that say they can fix some of the problems they have. Also there are two types from 98 to 2000 because active handling JL4 was an option during those years so you had an M code non active handling and a V code which was active handling if you have a 01 to 04 it's no big deal they are still available pretty cheap easy to remove and they can usually be repaired for a hundred bucks or so. I have fixed a few of the later ones for friends but I still can't fix my own car because it's a 2000 with active handling and the EBCM is hard to find. I have been looking for one for a while. I have checked everything on my car and read the posts and I feel confident that that is the problem.Then if I do find one someday(WISHFUL THINKING) in a wrecking yard how do I know if it's any good? Now we have the steering position sensor that is also no longer available for our early C5"s which can cause serious issues it is extremely frustrating. I know there is nothing we can do but I think it is ridicules that we can't get parts for a twelve year old car with 46K miles!!!!!!!! I just restored my 65 GTO I could buy everything I needed!!! Please God let someone start making these parts again! GM definitely left us high and dry

Mine is a 2003 so I guess it's still cheap if I need one.
