Whats different about a stock Z06 Exhaust system?
I am looking for an aftermarket exhaust system. I heard there is a local guy that has his factory Z06 exhaust for sale. Whats the difference in a stock LS1 exhaust and a Z06? How would this Z06 exhaust sound on my stock LS1?

Z06 is lighter and made from titanium, as opposed to stainless....also better looking chrome tips. The Z06 cat back also has a different exhaust note, which some seem to think is perfect.

The titaniun Z06 catback is only about 27lbs total, and is more free flowing than a stocker, which may lead to improved performance and gas mileage depending on how you drive your car. I really like the improved overall sound of mine on my '98 coupe. Not droney like a lot of aftermarket catback systems, but you know what you have when you nail the loud pedal!

The z06 TI IMO is the best system you can get for a daily driver. B&B and Borla are both way too loud. I mean loud to the point that you will either need ear plugs or will suffer hearing loss from prolonged use. I know because I have driven both. I bought my '99 with stingers on it. I replaced it with the Ti within a week of owning it.
I really like the sound of the TI on my car. I have LT and an XPipe. On the highway, the exhaust is quiet, but not silent. Above 3k, you can definitely hear it.
If you have $$$, the Corsa is also a very good exhaust. But it's heavier and costs at least twice as much as the TI.

When I did mine I must say the sound difference wasn't noticeable, until you get your foot in it. And then just a bit more throaty and easy to miss unless you are trying to hear something. After the headers it makes a whole bunch more noise when you're gettin on it. It's only going to get better as the mods go on. Like heads and cam. Some folks start to complain about more noise as the air flow gets better.

The absolute worst exhaust I had the displeasure of driving with was a stock z06 with Borla straight pipes. My ears rang after a 10 minute test drive. The exhaust sounded horrible both in and out of the car.

ZO6 Ti Exhaust
Barry,
I too have a 2000 dark navy metallic coupe and years ago placed 2004 ZO6 suspension, shocks, and exhaust on it. I love the sound and look of the Ti setup and it is quiet at most times until you hit the gas and then it roars. At cruising on the interstate at 70-80 mph nice and quiet though. I think it is perfect! You should also look at upgrading your plastic end links which after 10 years are probably looking rough, at least mine were! Hope that helps you in your question.
