My buddy had the same issue with his 2000 coupe. The headers burnt the line. He had an AC Shop make a custom line that no longer contacted the headers.

PROBLEM SOLVED

ok thanks Bill. Do you think when the shop does the leak test it will be apparent?

A leak is a leak. If you hire a LAZY AC mechanic, he may not go the extra mile to find that leak. When the dye leaks out, it leaves a visible stain. If that stain is inside the Air Box, no one is going to see it. Using a long wand sniffer, you can detect that leak.

You have AC hose joints
on the fire wall. Some are difficult to see. A good flashlight and a mirror will allow you to find the joints and the black light will show the leak.

You need to find a good competent AC Shop that knows what they are doing.

Armed with a GOOD Halon detector and dye and a black light, you SHOULD be able to find ANY LEAK.

Bill
