Air Conditioning Problems....A/C light wont stay on
Up until the other day, i had no problems with my A/C in my 02 Z06. A few days ago i turned the front defrost on, and noticed the a/c light didnt stay on, so i tried to turn the actual A/C on, and got nothing...
When you attempt to turn it on, the a/c light will flash a couple times, then just go out. I checked the low side of the a/c system, and its reading roughly 90psi (a little in the red on my gauge).
Any advice?

Did you have the car running with the A/C on and fans on max? That is how to check the low pressure side of the air condition. Just recharged mine today first time ever in 4 years and she is a 98. Add some freon and fixed the problem.

A friend of mine is having this same problem. The compressor does not kick on. The light on the button just flashes about 5 or 6 times and goes out. No A/C...No HVAC Codes. Any Input?

Sounds like the charge has leaked out. Charge the system and inject dye. Run the A/C and inspect for the leak. The A/C compressors are common leak points in these cars. About a 4 hour job, water pump needs to be removed for access. Auto Zone has rebuilt OEM compressors for a couple hundred bucks.

This happens to me on occasion as well. I do not have problems with low ambient temperatures where I'm from.
When the light does [decide to] stay on, the AC works as it should.

AC Probs with C% 2001 Coupe
I am having the same problems, the AC light comes on and goes out. i have checked the fan relays and the connection at the compressor. I do get a trouble code of 1546. could it maybe be the pressure switch located on the passenger side just under the coolant tank? How do I bypass this 3 wire switch to see if the compressor kicks on? it has a red wire, gray wire and black wire. Dont want to jump across the wrong wires. Any suggestions?

The PCM monitors the voltage, when the A/C clutch relay is closed(#34), if the PCM does not detect 12 volts, after it has commanded relay #34 "on".......you get a code P1546.
Have you checked fuse 24 in the underhood fusebox?

yes checked everything
the relay covers were loose so I replaced them. My son was in the car and once I wiggled the relay he pushed the AC button and the compressor engaged. Finally after finding out that wasn't the problem (Coincidence) I replaced the pressure switch and it seems to be working now. That is y I wanted to bypas the switch to see if that solved the problem. I didnt know if this could be done with the PCM controlling the AC that is y I asked. Fingers crossed It is working for now, guesss we will see. I had replaced the compressor last october because the old one crapped metal all over the system and I did an extensive flush and replaced the orifice filter and I am now thinking the switch was contaminated and caused it to be erratic and finally go bad.

Same problem here. I just had the car apart for a month for a cam swap and headders.. last night i started her up for the first time, and the AC button get pushed, the light stays on for 2-5 seconds and the light goes out...
Any coincidence with this problem and doing a cam swap?
