Default Help me with my big problem (Battery)

Hi all

I have a problem with my 98 C5 Vette

I will explain from the begining:

Before 3 weekks I was having a problem with my Wipers, they were working while the switch at off position !!!!
I start removing some fuses from the hood and from the passenger footwell and return them back until I found the correct fuse No. 10
I remove it and the problem solved

But after 3 days another problem came and this is the real problem. When I start my car, there was no power !!! I checked the battery it was empty although it was 3 months old
Anyway I changed the battery with a new one last week. and I start the car it was OK.
After 4 days, I start the car, the same problem, the battery was empty

I dont know what is the problem and why the battery drain the power that fast

Antbody can hel or advise

You have something that is draining your battery. Check the battery current draw with an AMP Meter. It should be 25 milliamps or less.

Maks sure that the interior lights are not staying on and the seat control button is not stuck on.

Where are you located?

you've got a major parasitic draw on your battery then! since the wipers are acting up Id suspect they are related. maybe there's more than one fuse which has something to do with the wipers? maybe there's a control circuit which flows through the switch and a power circuit which runs the actual wipers? you may have removed one and the other is still drawing current.

I understand that wiper motors acting up is something that can happen to C5's usually related to udders and drains being clogged and having water pool up around the wiper motor which apparently aren't waterproof enough for that. just a shot in the dark but check into that. wiper motor may need to be replaced if its damaged. I'd start there, it might solve the other problem as well.

Bill Curlee

I am located in the middle east
I am sure that the light is off and the seat control is not stuck. And even if there is something switched on on inside the car, it will shut off Automatically after few minutes from switching the car off
I have to check the battery current draw and see

When the wipers were working that day while the switch is off. Thats only when I switch the car on
When the car is switched off, they were not working

I start hating my car because of this problem

I had the same problem on my son's '99. Either the drains or window seals were allowing water to collect on the passenger floor and on the footwell electronics. When it dried the wiper problem quit, but I did not experience the battery issue you described.

I assume you have verified that the alternator is working properly and charging the battery.
