Default Cracked Transverse Leaf

Hey guys, I have a 98 coupe. I recently realized that the front leaf spring was cracked and I have had a vibration in the front end from 70- mph to about 95. Do you think this has anything to do with the leaf? Thanks!

I doubt that a cracked leaf spring would cause vibration. However, I wouldn't be driving 95 mph to check it out. You should be able to pick up a stock take-off for next to nothing and make it safe.

Check out the parts for sale section. I'm assuming that you have a base suspension. If so, there are probably hundreds sitting in storage w/ so many folks upgrading their stock setups.

Where are you located?

P.S. -Here's an upgrade, for 'ya. Front and rear Z51 springs for $200 plus shipping.http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-p...-bilstein.html

Jensen Beach, FL... Wouldn't I be better off getting after market springs?

Get some Zo6 springs (used) and some Bilstein shocks for a nice upgrade...

That is what I did when my front leaf spring began to crack!
Get the Bilstein HDs though, the Sports are pretty stiff.

Me too but with C6 Z06's...

These fiberglass springs will crack if you whack a pothole hard enough with just one front tire...be ware.

Good luck,

Donnie

Default Fidanza cracked front spring.

Sir,

I just sold a 98 front spring to J&D Corvettes in Bellflower, Ca.

I'm sure they would like to sell today.

Their number is (800) 838-8353.
