I'm using my phone to post this, need your help! I'm fairly far from home...about 30miles and the warning came on...no oil around...call AAA or is it just a warning?

Help!

Not sure if the 2000 had the same problem or not. Give Bill a call. He knows C5's inside and out!!

Bill was a great help . I Feel bad calling him again so late. Ultimately he suggested to drop a quart in of regular oil, but I'm not sure which...there is no 5w30 oils, just 5w20. Any insight? Bill if you're reading, a second assist would be great .

NO PROBLEM with the second call. Glad to help. At this point, any clean new oil is good oil. Just get some oil in it and get her home. Once you get back home, figure out why your using oil.

How many miles on the engine?

Have you ever changed your positive crankcase valve (PCV)? Its on the rear area of the drivers side valve cover on your C5.

You should consider carrying an extra quart in your car just for such emergencies.

Was the oil level actually low on your dip stick? It is possible your oil level sensor has gone bad.

just a suggestion for the future :
when the "oil level low" light comes on try ADDING SOME OIL before contacting Bill.

Let's keep Bill for the really big issues.

Geeze, I agree. I've had my 03 since new. This is what happened to me this spring. Had my car parked at an angle, w/ the nose pointing downward.. It was parked at that angle for around 2/3 hrs. Once I left and about 5 minutes later I was going 70 on the E Way. Look down at the DIC & it says LOW OIL. I freak out and turn into the first gas station. Check the stick and all was good.. I think parking at that angle w/ the nose down tripped up that sensor. Something to keep in mind.
