Hey Guys,
So I've had my 2003 AE M6 for a week. Touched up some minor paint chips around nose, nothing horrible. Did find a gouge in the bumper cover by the front side light marker hoping that can be taken car of easily. Washed it..sat around and looked at it...drove it!!!
Picked up the CLB kit from the Houston Dealer and I want to install it this weekend but I want to know what I'm getting into. I have the service history and it shows the following (performed 10/2004):
INSPECT PER CAMP 04006-ELECTRONIC COLUMN LOCK SYSTEM (V1153 .8 INSTALL HARNESS KIT, V1144 1.0 INSTALL KIT, REPROGRAMM AND PERFORM TEST ADD: .6-REPLACE LOCK PLATE, V1145 .3 REPROGRAM AND TEST ADD REPLACE LOCK PLATE .3
Ok. So first of all, no matter what was done the car still should have the CLB to be safe? Will the K Harness be present?
So, if I understand this correctly, because I have the smaller lock ring, my steering wheel can't physically lock but if something like the motor fails or battery goes bad the 2 mph thing will kick in? Would this this as expensive to fix as a locked steering wheel? I've heard of some big price tags for steering wheels that have locked and were taken to dealer to fix.
If the K Harness fails, then the 2 mph shutoff will kick in?
If the CLB is installed, the only way the 2 mph shutoff would occur would be if the CLB failed?
So, at this point, my steering column can't physically lock on me because of the smaller lock ring and installing the CLB does nothing for the 2 mph shutoff thing...so is there any reason to install the CLB?
