Default I reset "oil life %" but says "change oil soon"???

Hey everyone,
I changed my oil at the beginning of the summer and have drove probably 1500 miles or less on it, although most of time this car lives at the drag strip where i run it all out at high rpms etc. and yesterday i got in it and the "CHANGE OIL SOON" in the DIC displayed and then said it was at 5% so i reset it and it keeps coming back to the 5% and now after a 50 mile easy drive its at 3% and won't go away.
Oil level is good and nice amber color.

The way i've been reseting it is go in the DIC where the life is displayed and hold "RESET" button till ---% is displayed. Is that correct or what is my problem?

Thanks!

With the car off, or maybe in accessory mode,

You have to step on the gas 3 times.

Or maybe brake 4 times...

Something like that.

With the key on and the engine not running, press the gas petel 3 times or press reset on the DIC.

Use the accelerator reset procedure. Its a LOT easier and works better

Ignition ON,,,, engine off,,,, press the peddel three times 1, 2, 3, and it will read 100%

Really ? I just go to the DIC where it shows my % oil remaining, and hold the reset button. It resets fine that way for me... I have never heard of the gas pedal thing.

I don't think one is really "easier"...we're talking pushing a button for a few seconds or hitting the gas pedal 3 times.

ok so now i'm confused..... i have done the way by holding the reset button and then it just says ---% for awhile but always goes back to 5% or so..... is there something else wrong?
How does this sensor work? or how does it know how much oil life is left? by rpms, or mileage? or what?

Do a search on this, covered many times in the past. It does not test the oil directly.

When you see ---% shut the ingnition off and than back on. It should be 100%
