What is factory stall for stock torque converter
I have 98 coupe with 2:73 gear. I am considering 3;42 gear and yank 3200 stall. I would like to know difference between factory and 3200 stall.

I have had 3.42's in my car for 35K miles with the stock converter and it still runs strong and I have never had my car creep on me. Its all in the way your car is tuned. My car is not stock by any means. Mike Mercury has a nice write up on the T/C just search. One step up from the stock T/C in the corvette is the T/C from the truck line and the part #24208645 it was about $180.00. With that T/C you can now controllably power-brake to 1900rpm if your so inclined to do so. Don't wast your money on a high stall converter when you don't have to. The best thing for the money you could ever do to your car is change out the rear to 3.42s. Its like having a different car.

your probably right, but for all that work or money (if you take it to the shop) IMO its not worth it for just a Stock GM TC. might as well add something higher ..just my $0.02
