I have an A4 but at the drags i see many M6's run and have spoken to a lot of the owners---My suggestion is :
1st of all when you get into the 400 RWHP range drag radials are a must !!!--If you are more serious--try to get some smaller diameter wheels like 16" or 17 "--The stock 18" wheels have so little sidewall there is no "wrinkling" on launch and no matter what 18" tire you use regardless of width --will make it struggle to hook up-
2nd make sure you have the rearend alligned--to plant the tire squarely on the ground
3rd--IF you get wheel hop---STOP---- You'll eventually break the output shafts
4th--Most good launches I see with a M6--they run it up to around 3500-4000 at the start--less will make it Bog--- too much will make it spin---But to get the best 60' times the best route would be to make it hook up with a 4000 launch
Finally--- A better clutch---All the fast M6 guys get an aftermarket or upgraded GM clutch--

PS : I assume when you had it tuned they deleted the TQ management

I'm buying an ls7 clutch my next paycheck so that will be a big help. How small of a rim can you fit on the tears and still clear the brakes?

Good point on the wheel size, forgot about that. I was running 17" Nitto drag radials on my old front wheels. You can find wagon wheels for next to nothing in the parts section or ebay.

Is there something wrong with your clutch now? There are people cutting 1.5X"s with stock clutches.

I run CCW 16" but you can get a kit from ECS and run 15's. The easiest / cheapest way is to get a set of wagon wheel (17's) and use GTO spares for the front . . .

Instead of moving this, you can just start another thread in the performance section here:

driver mod would help out pretty well.....

but seriously, you are probably just launching too hard. launching a high hp car like this is not easy, and take a lot of skill to do right.

Hey there Nick. We don't want you to spend $ unecessarily. There are some key things you are missing that will help you lower your et without spending a dime.
Please start another post in the c5 performance section and you will get sound advice from experienced 6 speed drivers that started out exactly where you are.
I can tell you this without knowing you or your setup.

1) The stock clutch is good for now. Practice with it.
2) The stock suspension is great for drag racing just as it is especially at your power level.
3) I don't see the need for a drag pack right now. Get a decent drag radial in size 17" or 18" and go practice.
4) There's alot of info in here. Don't think you are going to read stuff once and get all the answers. It's a process. You will need to go back and reread things many times after you try to apply the knowledge/info at the track.(esp. Rangers tutorial)

Basic launch techniques:
Make sure you do a burnout with any tire that you run at the drag strip.
Hold your launch rpm at a given rpm and know what that number is. Ignore the tree. Try to be smooth and don't dump the clutch. See what happens and adjust.

The car easily has half a second in there, probably more. Switch to a 17" drag radial. 315's are too wide and are only hurting your times. A 275 series is perfect for your car. You should be trapping higher than 114 even with those 60's. I was trapping 112 with the same 60' and just boltons, and am not at 114-115 with a high 1.8 60'. What are you shifting at?

Here is a thread that lists most of the parts we have used to make the quickest 60'ing IRS Corvette out there, some will be over kill for your application, but feel free to give us a call if you would like to discuss what would work well for your application.

When i ran the car i believe i was shifting right at 6200 rmp but honestly not sure. I will take all the help you guys have provided and apply it. I used to run a lot with my other 2 mustangs but I didnt mind abusing those so much; it's a little different with a vette lol.

That cam is just getting to peak power at that rpm, you want to shift past peak ~500rpm so that your rpm falls back into the range where the engine is making the most average power over the rpm range. The ls6 intake forces a peak at 6300rpm, so hopefully your rev limiter is set to 6800(fine for stock bottom end) and I'd shift as close to that as possible w/o hitting it. Practice is what it's gonna take, no track is the same. Stock gearing makes it even more important to slip the clutch and harder to find the line between bogging and spinning. I managed a 1.74 with stock gears in my frc launching @5k rpm. I wouldn't recommend an LS7 clutch though if you're looking to drag race. Call me at the shop if you'd like to discuss more. 817-750-2000, Chris

I use 16" C4 wheels on the back with 28x10.50 MT tires @ 16 PSI
I had to have the 16" wheels machined in the inner backspacing to clear the disc brake calipers---Removed about .100--You'll need to find a machine shop that can chuck up a 16"rim on their largest lathe- they work great !! I experimented with different pressures and found that the MT recc PSI of 16 works best--The MT's require a big burnout on every pass on my car to get them to stick--0 spinning--avg about a 1.80 60' time--not great but I only have a baby stall at 2600--I hoping to get a 3000-3400 this year to lower the 60' times--
