Quarter Mile Help
1st of all when you get into the 400 RWHP range drag radials are a must !!!--If you are more serious--try to get some smaller diameter wheels like 16" or 17 "--The stock 18" wheels have so little sidewall there is no "wrinkling" on launch and no matter what 18" tire you use regardless of width --will make it struggle to hook up-
2nd make sure you have the rearend alligned--to plant the tire squarely on the ground
3rd--IF you get wheel hop---STOP---- You'll eventually break the output shafts
4th--Most good launches I see with a M6--they run it up to around 3500-4000 at the start--less will make it Bog--- too much will make it spin---But to get the best 60' times the best route would be to make it hook up with a 4000 launch
Finally--- A better clutch---All the fast M6 guys get an aftermarket or upgraded GM clutch--
PS : I assume when you had it tuned they deleted the TQ management

I run CCW 16" but you can get a kit from ECS and run 15's. The easiest / cheapest way is to get a set of wagon wheel (17's) and use GTO spares for the front . . .
Instead of moving this, you can just start another thread in the performance section here:

Please start another post in the c5 performance section and you will get sound advice from experienced 6 speed drivers that started out exactly where you are.
I can tell you this without knowing you or your setup.
1) The stock clutch is good for now. Practice with it.
2) The stock suspension is great for drag racing just as it is especially at your power level.
3) I don't see the need for a drag pack right now. Get a decent drag radial in size 17" or 18" and go practice.
4) There's alot of info in here. Don't think you are going to read stuff once and get all the answers. It's a process. You will need to go back and reread things many times after you try to apply the knowledge/info at the track.(esp. Rangers tutorial)
Basic launch techniques:
Make sure you do a burnout with any tire that you run at the drag strip.
Hold your launch rpm at a given rpm and know what that number is. Ignore the tree. Try to be smooth and don't dump the clutch. See what happens and adjust.

I had to have the 16" wheels machined in the inner backspacing to clear the disc brake calipers---Removed about .100--You'll need to find a machine shop that can chuck up a 16"rim on their largest lathe- they work great !! I experimented with different pressures and found that the MT recc PSI of 16 works best--The MT's require a big burnout on every pass on my car to get them to stick--0 spinning--avg about a 1.80 60' time--not great but I only have a baby stall at 2600--I hoping to get a 3000-3400 this year to lower the 60' times--
