I used an old large speaker magnet. I drilled a hole through it but I'm not sure it was necessary.

I just normally use a 1 1/2 X 3/4 X 1/4 inch thick magnet that comes in a 2 pack at Home Depot.

I have also used one of those magnet on stick thingys.

speaker magnet, on/or off the speaker. The magnet attached to one of those magnetic screw and bolt trays is fine.

I use one of those magnetic angle tools that you use for welding. Good and strong and works like a charm.

I bought a "doughnut" magnet, off eBay I think, for not much money, that was advertised and sold for resetting the sensors. Worked fine.

i bought 2 circular magnets with a metal shell from harbor freight...couple bucks each. drilled the center of the metal shell a little bigger than the valve stems (use plastic wrap around magnet before drilling makes cleaning magnetic shavings a lot easier) and then put the 2 magnets together and slip them over the stems when prompted. rebuilt the passenger's front sensor and retrained all 4 using it......then just recently had a slow leak in drivers front, since they had to break the bead on tire to fix the leak i got them to remove sensor since i had no clue how old it was and since i bought 4 batteries when i did pass before, rebuilt it and retrained again with no problems.

good luck

Default use so patience

Does not have to be a strong magnet almost any speaker magnet will work (speaker for car stereo not for a ipod or computer). The trick is to look at the pressure sensor and how it is made. The magnetic field needs to pass over the sensor itself not the valve stem. About 1/2 inch above the valve stem along the rim usually works.

Still having problems.

I have the ign on, get to the FOB training and LF tire pressure. Then go out with the magnet to the wheel and hold it everywhere around the valve stem and nothing. No horn, no reset.
--
Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to drill a hole in the magnet? I was just using a square one about 1 in x 1/2 in and holding it over the valve stem.

Suggestions.....

Suggestions.....
is it possibly a bad sensor? do you know how old that sensor is? i have a couple magnets together....the magnet themselves were donuts so i did not drill the magnets....outer metal casing on the magnet had a much smaller hole so i drilled just the metal out. before i made that device i used like 3 bar magnets from radio shack, they were about 1"x3" each.......once my drivers front sensor failed i could not train until i rebuilt it. hope any of this helps.

Go on to another sensor to see if it will train, you do not have to train the LF when it says LF, this will let you know if your magnet is strong enough and/or if you have a bad LF sensor.

Default sensor magnet

I used an oil filter magnet (circular type, that sticks to the bottom of the oil filter) and it worked fine. Another way to train the sensors, if you're replacing all four, is to train them inside the car, holding each one in your hand, having marked there location prior to training them, then mount in there respective wheels.

I also used the magnets from HomeDepot(two stacked together) and they worked just fine, about 3 bucks.
